Overview

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Design Manager is responsible for ensuring and implementing Engineering Design Management of the following:

  • Civil and Structural Engineering Works (For Civil and Structural Engineering Design Manager)
  • Plumbing and Sanitary Engineering Works (For Plumbing & Sanitary Engineering Design Manager)
  • Mechanical Engineering Works & Fire Protection Works (For Mechanical & Fire Protection Engineering Design Manager)
  • Electrical Engineering Works (For Electrical Engineering Design Manager)
  • from schematic stage (SS), design development stage (DDS), bidding stage and for construction stage (FCS) of the project in accordance with the required design handover schedules, completeness of plans and use of accepted value engineering (VE) practices.

Reports to: Engineering Design Assistant Vice President
Supervises: Engineering Design Assistant Manager (For MEPFS &CS)

Responsibilities
  • Review MEPFS & CS designs coming from external design consultants and evaluate design changes proposed by project stakeholders prior to project implementation.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions to identify potential value engineering and cost-saving items prior to project implementation.
  • Review and evaluate design parameters proposed by external design consultants.
  • Review the MEPFS & CS designs and layouts, systems and other engineering drawings, reports and specifications submitted by external design consultants at each stage of the Design Management process to ensure adequacy, accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and contract requirements.
  • Closely monitor the timelines of deliverables from external design consultants.
  • Provide assistance to QA/QC teams in ensuring quality of workmanship of trade contractors (MEPFS & CS).
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of Civil Engineering (for Civil & Structural Design Manager), Electrical Engineering (for Electrical Design Manager), Sanitary Engineering (for Plumbing & Sanitary Design Manager) and Mechanical Engineering (for Mechanical & Fire Protection Design Manager) from a reputable college or university
  • Board exam passer with a valid PRC license
  • Preferably with at least five (5) years of work experience as Design Manager from a reputable property developer, real estate, contractor or consulting firm
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
  • Support diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs

Job Overview

As the Engineering & Design Supervisor, you will be tasked to supervise the Engineering and Design Department of the client company.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and supervise the Team Leaders in a professional manner, e.g., allocation of work, providing guidelines to them in drafting to maintain the quality, improving productivity, checking drawings and cutting list profiles etc.
  2. Provide technical support and assists in the deliberation of project proposals and coordinate work to the Business Development Department and Project Management Department.
  3. Participates and assists the Business Development Department and Project Management Department in meetings with Architect, Consultant, Project Managers and Building Structural Engineers in communicating the engineering and design considerations of façade systems conform to all relevant building and structural codes, code of practices, health and safety, and all other project requirements.
  4. Implement planning and monitoring of projects’ drawings and other technical submission requirements.
  5. Ensure design, drawings, and all other deliverables meet the standard requirements, specifications, and within scope of works. Initiates request for information if there are incomplete information.
  6. Check for correctness, review and approve for submission of Tender Design, System Design, Performance Mock-up Drawings, Shop Drawings, Fabrication Drawings and Cutting List.
  7. Provide solution and ensure that all internal and external comments are addressed and documented thru the Project Design Monitoring.
  8. Ensure that each team provides the System Verification Checklist and ensure that the design, drawings, and all other deliverables meet the standard requirements, specifications, and within scope of works.
  9. Secure that coordination takes place with the designers and the Façade Structural Engineer, and the design was properly validated and documented in the System Validation Checklist.
  10. Participate in workshops and lead, review and comment of shop drawings in terms of constructability, sequencing and ensure quality of the design is maintained throughout.
  11. As the project requires, attend or participate to perform site verifications, site inspections and/or attend site meetings to ensure that site issues related to façade system are resolved.
  12. Manage the design change process to ensure minimal impact to project schedule and minimize cost impacts as a result of such design change.
  13. Resolves any unforeseen interface problems throughout the various design phases.
  14. Supervise in implementing the critical decisions and resolutions on any changes, critical issues and current site conditions that may arise during the preparation of Design Drawings, Fabrication Drawings and Cutting Lists.
  15. Leads the team to strictly observe the companies guidelines to attain the consistency and accuracy of the preparation of Design Drawings, Fabrication Drawings and Cutting Lists.
  16. Contributes in façade research and development and technological innovation.
  17. Impart to determine the need for training and talent development.
  18. Monitors the applicable software, codes and standards are subscribed to the latest version.
  19. Maintains the organized filing through File Management Procedure.
  20. Performs any reasonable duties within the overall function that commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the job assigned by department head.

Job Overview

As the Engineering & Design Supervisor, you will be tasked to supervise the Engineering and Design Department of the client company.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and supervise the Team Leaders in a professional manner, e.g., allocation of work, providing guidelines to them in drafting to maintain the quality, improving productivity, checking drawings and cutting list profiles etc.
  2. Provide technical support and assists in the deliberation of project proposals and coordinate work to the Business Development Department and Project Management Department.
  3. Participates and assists the Business Development Department and Project Management Department in meetings with Architect, Consultant, Project Managers and Building Structural Engineers in communicating the engineering and design considerations of façade systems conform to all relevant building and structural codes, code of practices, health and safety, and all other project requirements.
  4. Implement planning and monitoring of projects' drawings and other technical submission requirements.
  5. Ensure design, drawings, and all other deliverables meet the standard requirements, specifications, and within scope of works. Initiates request for information if there are incomplete information.
  6. Check for correctness, review and approve for submission of Tender Design, System Design, Performance Mock-up Drawings, Shop Drawings, Fabrication Drawings and Cutting List.
  7. Provide solution and ensure that all internal and external comments are addressed and documented thru the Project Design Monitoring.
  8. Ensure that each team provides the System Verification Checklist and ensure that the design, drawings, and all other deliverables meet the standard requirements, specifications, and within scope of works.
  9. Secure that coordination takes place with the designers and the Façade Structural Engineer, and the design was properly validated and documented in the System Validation Checklist.
  10. Participate in workshops and lead, review and comment of shop drawings in terms of constructability, sequencing and ensure quality of the design is maintained throughout.
  11. As the project requires, attend or participate to perform site verifications, site inspections and/or attend site meetings to ensure that site issues related to façade system are resolved.
  12. Manage the design change process to ensure minimal impact to project schedule and minimize cost impacts as a result of such design change.
  13. Resolves any unforeseen interface problems throughout the various design phases.
  14. Supervise in implementing the critical decisions and resolutions on any changes, critical issues and current site conditions that may arise during the preparation of Design Drawings, Fabrication Drawings and Cutting Lists.
  15. Leads the team to strictly observe the companies guidelines to attain the consistency and accuracy of the preparation of Design Drawings, Fabrication Drawings and Cutting Lists.
  16. Contributes in façade research and development and technological innovation.
  17. Impart to determine the need for training and talent development.
  18. Monitors the applicable software, codes and standards are subscribed to the latest version.
  19. Maintains the organized filing through File Management Procedure.
  20. Performs any reasonable duties within the overall function that commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the job assigned by department head.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering/Architecture
  • Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Exam)
  • Preferably with master's degree

Relevant Experience:

  • With at least 15 years of experience in façade design (majority in a management position)
