Planning & Organization

  • Provides critical inputs related to individual work plans / areas assigned to aid in increasing awareness on risk management.
  • Develop risk policies and standards for risk management related to price volatility, stress testing, forecasting, and other market risk management tools .
  • Implement a strategic plan to prevent, eliminate and mitigate macro / strategic market risks.
  • Coordinate initiatives and assessments with the other enterprise risk management verticals.


Financial Risk Management Activities

  • Perform market risk identification and assessment at the enterprise level, and as when relevant, on a per use case level and other levels of business granularity.
  • Develop and enhance frameworks on market risk management following ISO Standards, and BSP regulation across different FI types.
  • Assist in the discovery, estimation, measurement of the market risk appetite and tolerances.
  • Design and implement the market risk stress testing methodology considering the core, and the emerging markets of the enterprise.
  • Identify relevant macroeconomic variables that would be key indicators for changes in consumer payment, transfers and investment behaviors. Build the necessary database, and corresponding sourcing. Perform forecasting, and determine impact linkages with internal KPIs.
  • Define market key risk and control indicators (KRIs) and perform impact analysis. Craft report for cascade.


Enterprise Risk Management Activities

The following activities are done in support and coordination of the different verticals within the Risk Group.

  • Conduct the market risk assessments for initiatives, projects, and new products, services, and promos, ensuring new sources of volatility are added to the register and will be monitored accordingly.
  • Perform post launch assessment on the market risk impact of the initiative.
  • Formulate the project risk advisory checklist for market risk to facilitate comprehensive risk assessments
  • Coordinate and report to the FinRM Head, ERM Head, and CRO regarding results of risk reviews and assessments.
  • Assist business in documenting and in providing guidance for inputs to risk acceptances, as needed
  • Conducts reviews of policies and procedures, as needed


Governance, Reporting and Escalations

  • Craft the market risk model documentations, processes, and resulting implementation results for senior management review and approval.
  • Provides reports and updates to FinRM head for BAU Activities
  • Escalates key risks and actual/potential non-compliance incidents to respective risk owners through the FinRM Head, ERM Head and CRO to ensure that potential risks or incidents are managed effectively.
  • Provide oversight in the resolution of the financial risk callouts.
  • Perform regulatory gap assessments on market risk management, ESG considerations, and investment management.
  • Performs periodic market risk reviews.

The position is primarily responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating various risks encountered by the bank in its operations. The position is also responsible for protecting the financial institution against potential threats, ensuring its financial stability, and upholding its reputation within the financial industry.

Key Responsibilities

A. Operations Risk Management

1. Identifies and analyzes the various risks encountered by the bank.

2. Assesses the potential impact of these risks on the bank's financial health and overall stability.

3. Evaluates the probability and estimates the potential financial losses.

4. Develops and implements risk mitigation strategies.

5. Recommends diversification of the bank's portfolio, setting risk limits, and establishing risk management policies and procedures.

6. Reviews risk related policies and risk framework enhancement.

7. Stays abreast of regulatory updates and latest trend in risk management to ensure alignment of bank’s procedures and practices.

B. Reporting and Compliance

1. Ensures bank compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to operations risk management and other local regulatory guidelines.

2. Coaches risk owners in identifying and assessing risks in their units. and creating appropriate mitigation plans or risk programs.

3. Utilizes risk management tools, data analytics, and technologies to monitor and manage operations risks in the bank.

4. Presents the risk management reports to the bank management, the board of directors, and to government regulators.

1. Recommends plans, programs, budget, and performance targets of the department.

2. Plans, directs, and coordinates all activities in the department to reach maximum level of employee productivity throughout the workforce.

3. Provides upfront leadership in supervising all direct and indirect reports and planning for their career advancement and aspirations.

4. Supervises and evaluates the performance of all direct report/s.

5. Approves/schedules all vacation leaves of all direct report/s.

D. Others

1. Prepares regular reports, trends, and updates.

2. Provides risk management training to bank employees.

3. Keeps management aware of the types of actions that require legal consideration.

4. Participates actively during meetings, trainings, and other professional development programs.

5. Makes recommendations on matters pertinent to business operations and other related activities.

6. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or any related field.
  • Preferably with master’s degree in risk management or business administration, or certification in finance or risk management

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Director to join our Product and Insurance Risk Management team, which supports the Chief Risk Officer and Product Oversight Committee in overseeing product-related risks as defined in the enterprise’s Insurance and Reinsurance Risk Management policies.

In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining global pricing, underwriting and claims standards, coordinating the annual new business plan process, and assessing product and underwriting initiatives across all segments of the enterprise to ensure they fall within risk appetite, and driving research activities to inform the development and review of the company risk appetite and standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Standards & Policies:
    • Support the development, oversight, and annual reviews of Corporate Pricing, Underwriting, and Claims standards.
    • Oversee compliance through consolidation and review of Product, Pricing, Underwriting, and Claims Self-Assessment Questionnaires across geographic segments and lines of business.
  • Management Reporting & Oversight:
    • Support the coordination of the Annual New Business Plan exercise, including developing plan guidance, review and consolidation of business unit submissions, and developing material to summarize results and key insights for senior management
    • Oversee quarterly reporting of new business results & other KPI (e.g New Business Profitability Dashboard, Over-retention, Geographic concentration of risk), including working with segment and business unit team to develop commentary
    • Prepare agenda and materials for the quarterly Product Oversight Committee forum and the quarterly Underwriting & Claims Risk Committee forum
  • Actuarial Research:
    • Support actuarial research that would inform the development of company risk appetite and standards, including mortality trends, critical illness rates, and more, across internal and external data sources.
    • Coordinate with Pricing functions and independently perform Pricing model runs to test the sensitivity and potential impact of proposals from the GPRM function.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fellowship with a recognized international Actuarial professional body with 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates mastery regarding technical aspects of Pricing and Product Development processes, with familiarity in underwriting or claims functions an asset.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and develop a small to medium sized team
  • Proficiency in Moody’s Axis, Risk Integrity, and IFRS17 reporting would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and influence effectively
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to communicate effectively across stakeholders at different levels of seniority, functions, or geographies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying priorities and scope.
  • Amenable to work UP Ayala Technohub (Quezon City)
  • Amenable to work on a hybrid set-up (3x a week onsite)

Planning & Organization

  • Assists in conducting and validating gap analysis against required regulation / laws / Internal policies


Embedding Risk Management Function and Advancement

  • Performs promotions and training business and functional partners in the different risk management activities
  • Keep abreast of latest operational risk management techniques and industry best practices.
  • Ensures continued awareness of the ORM policy/framework, Org-wide Risk Matrix and common risk language across the organization.


Others

  • Perform activities required by the ORM Head, ERM Head and CRO, as it arises.
  • Assists in the management and monitoring of open audit items from internal / external audits related to Operational Risk Management to ensure completion of remediation activities defined in the agreed action plans and risk treatment plans
  • Support ORM to develop and expand continuous monitoring processes to assess compliance with risk policies, standards and requirements.

Qualifications

Job Description

The Risk Management and Compliance Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring our organization's adherence to environmental, energy, occupational safety, mechanical, and electrical standards including the associated operational risks. Professional Background

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in the manufacturing, utility, or industrial sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in environmental, energy, occupational safety, mechanical, and electrical standards and regulations, including a deep understanding of applicable laws, regulations (DOLE, DENR, DOE and LGU), and industry codes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to embrace a culture of compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex compliance challenges.
